Climate Change in Eastern Europe
The publication explores the impacts of climate change on Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. It integrates available knowledge, primarily accumulated by scientists and practitioners in these countries, about climate change in Eastern Europe, its impacts, and the countries’ attempts to cope with them. Experience of the European Union in Adaptation to Climate Change and its Application to Ukraine
This publication aims to offer practical guidance and background information to the government of Ukraine on how to undertake adaptation activities. Based on the EU experience the study provides examples of current adaptation policy measures and discusses options to finance adaptation activities. ENVSEC report: Transboundary Cooperation and Sustainable Management of the Dniester River Basin
A publication presents the achievements of the Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC) project “Transboundary Co-operation and Sustainable Management in the Dniester River Basin: Phase III – Implementation of the Action Programme”. The project was led and implemented by three of the ENVSEC partners, UNECE, OSCE and UNEP. Project activities, transboundary water monitoring, fish fauna conservation, information sharing on the basin level, public awareness, and reducing vulnerability to extreme floods and climate change, and development and signing of the Moldovan-Ukrainian Dniester River basin Treaty, are described in the publication. The signing ceremony took place at the sixth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention) in Rome in November 2012. The publication provides recommendations for further activities in the Dniester basin and is a valuable reference for the further development of the transboundary integrated water resources management. english version russian version other version |

The Manual is aimed to help trainers at the training courses for customs and border guard authorities, environmental inspectors and other responsible authorities to deliver lectures and practical exercises on a broad topic “Detection and prevention of illegal transboundary movement of waste and other environment-sensitive commodities”. The Manual provides general advice to the trainers, a list of topics recommended for the presentation, offers teaching methods for each topic, as well as provides a list of recommended literature and Internet sources. english version russian version |

The land of our concern. Based on material from the reports on the state of the natural environment in the Donetsk Oblast in 2007-2009
Based on the assessment of 2007-2009 data, the report presents environmental situation in the Donetsk region (oblast) of Ukraine. The analysis shows the region's environmental, social and economic conditions, and the environmental impacts of economic activities. The report highlights issues such as air quality and pollution, water and land resources, climate change, biodiversity, waste management, health and industrial safety. Indicators in the report show environmental trends over time as well as map the issues within the region. Comparisons are drawn with other parts of Ukraine and with EU member-states.
